Remember Who You Are

So many times, our lives are consumed by the minutiae of life. We take care of everyone but ourselves.

This avoidance of “self care” takes a cumulative toll on our psyches. We lose ourselves in the service of others. Yet we know, somehow, that there is something more, something deeper, something special that we are destined to do or be.

That’s the crux of Sea Change: returning you to yourself. In part, it happens because we take away all those dratted distractions (!) and after the first 24 hours, you begin to settle into your own skin again. You feel like YOU. That wonderful, optimistic girl who still lives inside you. And is trying to claw her way out.

You deserve no less than living into the fullness of your own potential and to share your unique gifts with the world.

You are, quite simply, spectacular. Without a single finishing touch or perfectionistic alteration.

And yes, you are spectacular with your ADHD in full bloom!

Time is ticking away — Sea Change starts in:

“A very special bond forms among a small group of ADHD women
with a fantastic facilitator like Linda. I always come away recharged and inspired!”

beach hug

Linda says, “I love the beach. The timeless connection between human beings and the salty waves sets the scene for returning to ourselves, learning more and transforming our lives.”
The Sea Change retreat unfolds at Emerald Isle, one of the barrier islands that nose their way into the Atlantic on North Carolina’s famed Crystal Coast.

What happens at the retreat?

Each day is different but with some similarities.

We always start with a group connection and check in. The Retreat Standards of Presence are shared with the group. Then we dive into the day’s agenda. OK, to be candid, the word “agenda” is a bit too structured.

We go with the flow. Each of us has a chance to “share her/their story” in the group (no not every detail, just the most important issues currently).

This is a transformative retreat, so it’s a deep dive into the issues  that you share – ADHD or otherwise. Naturally, Linda is there to coach through those issues, regardless of the depth or breadth (or grief or shame).

You deserve to reclaim yourself after all these years. Who are you NOW?

The retreat is driven by the women who attend. Sometimes we talk about relationships. Sometimes we talk about sorrow, shame,  frustration or joy.

Basic Q & A

Answers specific to Sea Change (more Q&A here:

Do you teach ADHD strategies?

Yes and no. This retreat is not about ADHD basics. It is about the deeper aspects of female ADHD: your brave attempts, your triumphs, your dreams, your secret shame. That said, strategies organically insert themselves into our sessions. It’s all part of keeping the space safe and encouraging.

Do I have to participate?

Yes. This is not a lazy, restful week at the beach, It’s an energizing, affirming retreat that is built on the energy of everyone in the group. You are required to attend each session – there are three each day – and participate in all activities except those that are optional (massage, dinner out, fun stuff).

Do we take breaks? I get overwhelmed easily

We all get overwhelmed so Linda makes sure the meal breaks are leisurely and there is time to walk the beach, rest in your room or share stories with new acquaintances. And there are calming activities designed to quiet your overwhelm.

Special amenities at Sea Change

Meals & snacks

All meals and snacks are prepared on site using the freshest (usually organic) ingredients. We accommodate most special diets and make every effort to provide sustenance that feeds your body as well as your soul.

Pool and spa

Breezin’ Blue has a beautiful private pool and hot tub combo that is available for your use any time of the day or night. There are outdoor showers and bathroom facilities. Enjoy!

Creative outlets

There are plenty of opportunities to express yourself with your own unique style. Art supplies and journals are always available. And we encourage breaking into song every chance you get!

Our yoga instructor joins us every morning before breakfast for a gentle yoga workout. No pretzel poses here: she adjusts our sessions for every age and level of fitness. Yoga is optional, of course. Some ADDivas are NOT morning people (OK, most of us, all right?).

Dining out

We take an evening to leave the retreat house and venture into the quaint Emerald Isle area. Our favorite restaurants are those that serve seafood, Southern cooking and big smiles.

Authentic ADHD

Inside “the circle” is the place for complete honesty and authenticity — from everyone. The places we go together may bring up tears…or laughter. Probably both!  Your True Self is welcome at Sea Change.

A full body massage is part of the Sea Chnage package and most women are happy to spend an hour of blissful relaxation. However, the massage is optional if you prefer.

Spontaneous extras

You never know what will happen at a Sea Change retreat! We’ve had our photo taken Wild West style and even crafted our own seaweed labyrinth on the sand.

What is said and done at Sea Change remains completely confidential and private. There are specific instructions for speaking to others about the retreat without mentioning identifying details or names.
